Static watertight performance test

Static Water Penetration Performance Test

Evaluates the resistance to water infiltration and sealing performance of building materials under internal pressure and external water spray conditions.

Test Principle and Procedure

This test is primarily conducted in accordance with ASTM E331 or CNS 13974 and other relevant domestic and international standards. The testing procedure is as follows:

Sealed Chamber Simulation:
A sealed pressure chamber is installed on the exterior side of the curtain wall specimen to simulate air pressure differences between the interior and exterior of a building.

Controlled Water Spray:
A uniform spray system continuously applies water to the specimen surface (typically 3.4 L/m²).

Constant Pressure Observation:
Under a specified static pressure differential, the specimen is observed continuously for a designated period (typically 15 minutes) to determine whether any leakage, water accumulation, or water penetration into the interior occurs.

Why Is This Test Important?

Prevention of Structural Damage:
Effectively prevents moisture penetration that may cause steel corrosion, interior finish damage, or wall deterioration.

Improved Construction Quality:
Allows early detection of defects in sealants or gaskets during the construction phase, reducing costly repairs after project completion.

Compliance with Standards and Regulations:
Ensures that building designs comply with modern building codes and weather resistance requirements, providing long-term safety and durability.
